Berry: Veterans Deserve Better

President Bush announced that there will be a comprehensive review of the nation's military and veteran's hospitals on Friday. This announcement comes after a wake of reports that claim the wounded soldiers had been subjected to unsanitary conditions and substandard medical care at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

Our veterans have put their lives on the line to preserve democracy and our way of life. We have a moral obligation to make sure they receive the health care and benefits they earned while serving our country. It is an insult to our brave men and women in uniform to return home to face appalling conditions and mountains of paperwork.

Bureaucracy should never stand in the way of service.

America's brave soldiers deserve better. They should have the best possible care available - otherwise we are failing to honor a commitment to those who need it most.

Please continue to keep our brave men and women in your thoughts and prayers. I cannot express how grateful I am for their bravery and service to our country.
